Terra
Nova Online
Tests:
Online
testing generally takes less time than paper
testing. Online testing can also be less
expensive, especially for schools new to Terra Nova
Testing. Online testing may often be easier for
administration to estimate/plan the testing budget
since the per student cost is the same for all
students 3rd-10th grade. The cost is $30 per
student. There are no testing materials required
to have in stock.
Online
testing may be more difficult for younger grades that
are not familiar with a mouse and
keyboard. The online testing has computer requirements.
You may need a computer lab or classroom with enough
internet computers to test each group in your school.

For extra
help preparing an order, please visit our Order
Prep page! Orders are accepted up to May
14th. Schools
with a minimum of 25 students may test anytime during
the year and do not have a deadline! If you would like to attempt to get the
results back by the end of the school year, testing
should be done in March. Machine Scoring Reports
include Cal-Stick label, Individual Test Record, Home/Parent Report, and Class Record Sheet.
Quick
Overview:
Required:
You will need a Terra Nova Examiner's Manual for each
group being tested. (4th-12th can be tested together
or grouped depending on local situation, K-3rd require
testing separately by grade level.)
Required:
You will need a Terra Nova Test Booklet for each
student.
Required:
You will need a Compuscan Answer Sheet for each
student 4th grade and higher (3rd and below write
directly in test booklet).
Required:
You will need to order a Machine Scoring for every
student. (Choose the TERRANOVA
& TCS/2 Machine Scoring if also including the optional Test of
Cognitive Skills.)
Optional:
You can optionally offer Terra Nova practice tests for
K-5th. (A small amount of time should be allocated
beforehand for 4th and 5th graders taking practice
tests if testing the 4th or 5th graders together with
6th grade.) You will need separate Terra Nova
practice test instructions for each classroom.
(4th and 5th can practice test together.)
Optional:
You can also offer the Test of Cognitive Skills TCS2 to your 2nd-12th grade students,
which assesses the academic aptitude and potential
rather than actual achievement. Terra Nova
measures actual achievement and TCS assesses aptitude
and potential. TCS test booklets cost $7.50 each
for 4th grade and higher, but only cost $2 extra for TCS
scoring/reporting when testing with Terra Nova. 2nd and 3rd grade use $8.50
consumable test booklets, plus the $2 extra for
scoring/reporting. You will need a TCS Examiner's
Manual for each classroom and a TCS Test Book for each
student. TCS practice tests are available for
$1,
which requires separate practice test
instructions.
New
school customers: Your cost per student for materials
and machine scoring will likely average between
$50-$60 your first year, because you do not have test
booklets and examiner manuals on hand from a previous
year. This figure can be higher or lower
depending on classroom size (larger classes are less
expensive), whether you use the optional TCS (approximately
a $10 difference), and whether you use practice tests
(approximately a $1 difference).
Existing
school customers: Keep in mind students in 3rd grade
and under can cost approximately $41 each because they
use consumable test booklets. Students in 4th
grade and higher will cost $31 (or more if you use TCS).
You may also need extra test booklets or examiner
manuals.
